The Mercator Group began its co-operation with Mostransgaz Ltd. by producing a DVD presentation for the annual report of spring, 2003. The co-operation went on to the writing of a script for a corporate movie (the shooting is scheduled for spring, 2004) allowing Mercator experts to get a deep insight in Mostransgaz activities specific details. All this was of a substantial help in our work on the site, and allowed our Client to save resources and time.
The Mostransgaz Ltd. Web site is a large-scale informational project aimed at a description of the activities of Russia’s largest gas transportation company. The site provides information on all of 39 branches of Mostransgaz Ltd., as well as data on its history, responsibility area, structure, types of activities, and technologies used for gas transportation. In total, the site contains over 300 pages of text and 250 photograph.
The Technology & Equipment section is an object of developers’ special pride. It provides a layman-level description of gas compression and gas distribution stations, underground gas holders, general gas transportation system, gas accounting, and environmental issues. The section contains many interesting and bright pictures using 3D graphics and flash presentations. The Area of Responsibility section begins with a large map marking all major objects of Mostransgaz Ltd. infrastructure allowing to navigate to pages dedicated to regional branches.
The concept of the Technology & Equipment section logically followed the movie script which already had highlighted the most curious aspects of gas transporting systems. All we had to do was to re-process the texts to a certain extent, and to produce the graphics. As to the Mostransgaz in Figures section, it is entirely composed of DVD presentation stop-frames. Thus a very striking site section required almost no additional efforts.
The site features a content management system, a picture rotator, and a photo gallery administration system.
